The Wildes, George Square Piccolo, Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival

Siblings Dani and Will Wilde from Brighton with an acoustic blues set, and sharing out the lead vocals duties between them.  Dani has a genuine blues voice, gutsy and soaring, technically the stronger of the two.  Will the more soulful, and more involving, despite the mid-Atlantic affectation.

Dani a more than competent guitarist, Will a maestro of blues harmonica - no surprise to hear him say he was staying on in Edinburgh to deliver classes in technique.  His rendition of Gary Moore's Parisian Walkways was masterful.   Together they work well, and provide some amusement playing up the sibling rivalry theme.  A good range of material too, blues classics, original songs, even some Joni Mitchell.

An excellent show, and the memory of that uplifting harmonica playing will stay with me for some time to come.
